Dog Bows

In the last week or two, I introduced Emily to the concept of sun dogs - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dog We saw them two days in a row, and I guess the idea stuck somewhere in the back of her head.

This morning, there was a beautiful pre-dawn sky and I opened the front door for her so we could look at it. She saw all of the colors, and said, "A dog bow!" Puzzled, I asked her, "What?" She said, "It's a dog bow, like the other day!"

Awesome.

I asked if she meant "sun dog" and she agreed. I explained that though there were a lot of pretty colors, it was 'just' a sunrise, not the same as a sun dog. I don't know if she 'believed' me, nor cared.

But I hope that forever more, when I see a 'red sky in morning,' I think, "Dog Bow!"

Reason #5873 why this kid rocks my socks off.
